Conversions

When it comes to calculations there is a common problem – UNITS! especially when we have US and metric units. So here are some units (with conversions), most commonly used in brewing.

 WEIGHTS

1. Kilograms (kg) and Pounds (lb) connection:

lb to kg

1 lb = 0,454 kg
Example: 7 lb to kg: 7 lb x 0,454 = 3,178 kg

kg to lb

1 kg = 2,205 lb
Example: 7 kg to lb: 7 kg x 2,205 = 15,435 lb

2. Grams (g) and Ounces (oz) connection:

oz to g

1 oz = 28,350 g
Example: 7 oz to g: 7 oz x 28,350 = 198,45 g

g to oz

1 g = 0,0353 oz
Example: 7 g to oz: 7 g x 0,0353 = 0,247 oz

VOLUME

1. Liters (L) and Gallons (gal) connection:

gal to L

1 gal = 3,785 L
Example: 6 gal to L: 6 gal x 3,785 = 22,71 L

L to gal

1 L = 0,264 gal
Example: 6 L to gal: 6 L x 0,264 = 1,584 gal

2. Liters (L) and quarts (qt) connection

qt to L

1 qt = 0,946 L
Example: 5 qt to L: 5 qt x 0,946 = 4,73 L

L to qt

1 L = 1,057 qt
Example: 5 L to qt: 5 L x 1,057 = 5,285 qt

3. Milliliters (ml) and cups (cup) connection

cup to ml

1 cup = 236,6 ml
Example: 2 cup to ml: 2 cup x 236,6 = 473,2 ml

ml to cup

1 ml = 0,004 cup
Example: 150 ml to cup: 150 ml x 0,004 = 0,6 cup

4. Milliliters (ml) and fluid ounces (oz) connection

oz to ml

1 oz = 29,57 ml
Example: 5 oz to ml: 5 oz x 29,57 =  147,85 ml

ml to oz

1 ml = 0,034 oz
Example: 30 ml to oz: 30 ml x 0,034 = 1,02 oz

TEMPERATURE

1. Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) connection

°F to °C

°C = (°F – 32) x 5/9
Example: 70 °F to °C: °C = (70 – 32) x 5/9 = 21,1 °C

°C to °F

°F = °C x 9/5 + 32
Example: 25 °C to °F: °F = 25 °C x 9/5 + 32 = 77 °F
